The Cape Town French School
All children from 2nd or 3rd year of Pre-Primary School (“Moyenne section”) onwards have lunch in the school’s canteen, sit at the table and are guided and encouraged to have good table manners.
Our learners have 2 options at lunch time:
The school canteen offers warm three-course meals prepared by an external catering service. These are set meals which are changed weekly. The menus are approved by a nutritionist and include:
Diabetic students or those with food allergies shall receive special attention as part of a P.A.I. – an individual care program upon presentation of a medical certificate issued by an allergist or a specialized doctor.
Registration for canteen catered lunch is for a period of seven weeks at a time, between two school holidays. Parents have the option of starting or terminating canteen lunch at the end of each period of seven weeks. Please note that the meals that are not consumed are not refunded, except when the children participate in school trips and outings. Weekly menus can be viewed on the School Communicator for the primary school and on Pronote for the high school.[/vc_column_text]
Learners who bring their own lunch box also sit in the canteen, at a table with their classmates. Please note, however, that meals brought from home can not be warmed up (except for the TPS and PS children, i.e. 2 and 3 years old, who eat in their classrooms).
As far as snacks are concerned, our teachers encourage families to provide their children with a fruit for mid-morning break, a healthy snack to have in the mid-afternoon after classes, and a bottle of water for the day (fountains are available at school to re-fill).
