The Cape Town French School
Career guidance is part of the French curriculum and is offered to Middle and High School learners (from Sixième to Terminale / Grades 6 to 12) to assist them in making educational decisions based on their personal skills, hopes, aspirations and living environments. The younger learners meet professionals and view videos and documentaries. The older learners explore career options, diplomas and education systems in the world. A professional guidance counsellor provides support to the learners with their applications.
The Cape Town French School organises a bi-annual careers fair, where representatives from various sectors are invited to present and discuss their career choices with the learners. The invited professionals come from various backgrounds: IT professionals, health professionals, lawyers, architects, designers, academics, diplomats, chemists, journalists and representatives from humanitarian organisations and NGOs.
Resource Centre and Guidance Counsellor
Our School Media Centre (CDI: Centre de Documentation et d’Information) has a wide selection of resources on professional guidance. The school’s Guidance Counsellor is available 20 hours a week to engage with learners or parents. The Counsellor also visits each class several times a month to conduct age-appropriate guidance activities.
CampusFrance South Africa assists non-French learners living in South Africa with commencing or continuing their studies in France and also offers scholarships. CampusFrance can be found at the French Embassy in Pretoria.
